How often does Victorian Duck Hunters Association meet?

The VDHA committee meets monthly to discuss strategies for the association to continue campaigning for sustainable duck hunting and general association matters

The second association AGM is planned for later this year and members will be advised of the format by the end of the 2022 financial year

Do I need a game licence to hunt in Victoria?

Yes! It is a requirement to hunt that a hunter obtains a game licence and holds a valid firearms licence to hunt in Victoria

When is duck season 2025

Duck season in Victoria officially opens at 8:00am Wednesday 19 March, 2025. It concludes 30 minutes after sunset on 9 June, 2025.

 

For the first 5 days, the hunting start time is 8:00am until 30 minutes after sunset (19-23 March).

For the remainder of the season, hunting commences 30 minutes before sunrise (from Monday 24 March), and concludes 30 minutes after sunset.

​

The daily bag limit is nine (9) birds per day. 

​

The Blue-Winged Shoveler cannot be hunted and has a year-round close season. Seven (7) game duck species may be hunted.

​

The VDHA has taken the published times from the Game Management Authority release. The VDHA recommends verifying these times on the GMA website as they are subject to change.
